Dear students, old and new!
Fall 2016 UIC MOP session will start on Friday September 23, 2016.
We will meet on the 4th floor of SEO building on the UIC campus. We will start at 4:45pm and will discuss math and solve problems until 7pm, with a short pizza break. We plan to have 6 Friday meetings:

The rumors about cancelling the meeting were premature…
In fact, I don’t know what caused them. We will meet as usual at 4:30 forst in SEO 427 and then at SEO 430 (MLC). Will post some updates shortly.
The first two sessions went well, the next one is this Friday October 9.
As in the last two times we will start in Room 427 SEO discussing some theoretical background, and then will move on to solving some problems, some of which are related to the topic of the day.
In the First Session we got to talk about the Euclidean Algorithm for finding the Greatest Common Divisor (GCD), and about graphs and spanning trees.
In the Second Session we focused more in depth on division with remainder, the Euclidean Algorithm, and splitting into primes both in the context of integers and in the context of polynomials. This was a bit too loaded for one meeting, so we will continue a bit more in the next (3rd) session.

Welcome to the UIC Math Olympiad Project/Math Outreach Program !
We are excited to see you at our first session of the year this Friday, Septmeber 11, 2015 at 4:30 – 7:00pm at 430 SEO (Math Learning Center) on the UIC campus (here).
This academic year the program will be limited to the Fall semester only, and we will be meeting every other week. At these sessions we discuss cool and very challenging mathematical problems (see this list of problems from last year as a random example) and discuss related mathematics. We will also have a pizza break, and have fun 🙂

With the beginning of the school year fast approaching, let us share the plans for the Fall 2015 session of UIC MOP.
There is an ICTM contest this Saturday Feb 28 at UIC. We are cancelling the Friday Feb 27 session, as many kids will be busy. We reume next week on Friday March 6. Meanwhile we are posting the problems that were offered in the last few sessions, including the informal competition that took place on Feb 6.
